About
About
Adve.tf (Advanced Entertainment Typefaces) is both a typefoundry and a playground. Initiated by the design studio D-E-A-L in 2022, it explores the relationship between fonts and storytelling, the narrative aspect of letters and shapes. The aim of the project is to promote young designers fonts and to encourage type design experiment and research. The typefoundry publishes fonts made in collaboration with local and international designers.

Licensing
We’re delighted that you’re interested in our fonts. We’re very proud of the work we’ve created and we love making it available to you and to the wider world. The means by which we do this, is through licensing our fonts. In essence, when you license a font, we give you the right to use that font, under certain conditions and in exchange for a fee. Because in strict legal terms all of this is more complicated, the rest of this License Agreement goes into more detail on the possible arrangements.
Agreement
Licenses:
Guided Tour document
When you click to accept the license agreements, you enter an agreement with us, ADVE, about the terms and conditions for using the products or fonts that we, and/or our collabo-
rators, have created. Just in case you somehow got hold of a font of ours without clicking to accept the license agreement on our website, the agreement is also considered to have come into force when you handle our fonts (e.g. downloading, installing, uploading, transferring, processing, using etc.). By clicking that you agree, or by using our fonts, you agree to the terms of this licensing agreement, you promise to abide by its terms and you understand that all use of our fonts is governed by these agreements. Please read it through carefully before agreeing: we’ve tried to keep it as simple as possible. If you are uncertain about its application, feel free to contact us at support@adve.tf.
The guiding principle is that the general rules of the End User License Agreement (EULA) apply to the licensing of our fonts and other products. There are differences in the pricing of our products, depending on company size and whether or not you’re a student. These differences do not, however, translate to differences in the licensing conditions set out in these agreement.
There is one specific case in which derogations are made from the general rules of the EULA. This is the case for trial licenses. In the case of the trial license, the conditions that are set out in the specific trial licensing agreement supplant the general rules of the EULA and take precedence over them in case they conflict. A second exception is made for students, who are granted favorable conditions as set out in the Student Discount Provisions.
EULA
An End User License Agreement (EULA) is a legal document that outlines the terms and conditions governing the use of font software. When you purchase a font license, you enter into an agreement with the foundry or provider, and that agreement is defined by the EULA. The EULA serves as a contract between you (referred to as the “End User” or “Licensee”) and the font provider (referred to as the “Licensor”). It establishes the rights and permissions granted to you for using the font software and sets forth any limitations or restrictions on its usage.
General
The guiding principle of this EULA is that you are hereby granted a non-exclusive, non-assignable and non-transferable (except as expressly permitted herein) license to access, embed (in limited ways), or otherwise use the font or Font Software, for your Personal or Internal Business Use. The granted license is at all times subject to the terms and conditions of the Agreement and its Annexes. The guiding principle of this Agreement is that it covers any Use of licensed products, services, fonts, or font software, unlimited in time and without geographical limits. Adve reserves all rights not expressly granted to you in this Agreement.
If you want a typeface, design, or font that is exclusively for you or your business, we are happy to work with you outside the framework of the licensing of our products. For inquiries, please contact us at: support@adve.tf.
Prices
The applicable prices for the products, services, fonts or font software you wish to license are at all times indicated on the webpages of the relevant platform (as set out in Annex II to the Agreement). Prices are set by Adve. The cost of the license that is indicated is, in principle, a one-time payment, subject to the conditions and limitations that are set out in this Agreement.
Adve works with a pricing model based on the size of your company or the company you work for; whether it is small, medium or large.
The corresponding sizes for these categories are the following:
S: 1 — 3 people/company
M: 4 — 10 people/company
L: 11 — 35 people/company
XL: 36 — 70 people/company
XXL: 71 or more people/company
Whenever your company or the company you work for moves from a smaller to a larger category, because more people work for it, Adve has the right to adjust the price of any and all ongoing licenses for the following calendar year. Adve reserves the right to adjust the categorisation of the company size once a year. The prices for the calendar year are communicated through the website. There are three exceptions to this pricing model:
XL Companies—Companies that have 71 or more employees. If your company, the company you work for or your client exceeds this number of employees, please contact us directly at support@adve.tf for a custom quote.
Students are considered to be a Small company and receive a special discount (see: Student Discount Provisions);
Trial licenses for testing purposes (see Trial Licensing Agreement);
Adve has the right to change the prices of offered products, services, fonts, and font software. In principle this will not happen more than once per year. Any such change in price taking effect on January 1st, 00:00 o’clock, of the following year. Any changes in pricing will not effect the validity or the price of already purchased licenses (unless due to changes
in company sizes.).
Use Cases
The use cases of the licensed fonts, software, or products, goods or services, are not restricted to categories of use such as online/offline, desktop/print, web/digital, or social media/other use.
There are certain restrictions to use cases. You cannot use the products, services, fonts or font software, partially or entirely, for the design of a logo, a word mark, or a company symbol. If that is the intended use, please, contact us in order to obtain a quote corresponding to the demands of your project, at: support@adve.tf.
In principle, a license for web use is valid for one web domain, using the @font-face CSS method.
In principle, the use of the licensed products, services, font(s) or font software is restricted to one project, client or campaign. In case of re-use of the licensed product, service, font(s) or font software for another project, client, or campaign, Adve reserves the right to adjust the pricing for the license on two grounds, or a combination thereof:
• A change in size of the company, either that previously purchased the license or their client, similar to article 2 EULA: re-use of a license for another project, client or campaign gives Adve the right to add the amount of people working for the new project, client or campaign to the company size as established at the time of purchase and to bill any difference.
• A change in the visibility, reach and/or significance of the licensed product, font(s) or font software.
With any of our licenses, you can install the fonts and font software on devices of those in your immediate household and your company. D-E-A-L provides you with TTF and OTF formats. There is no limit to the number of devices or workstations you can install the product, service, font, or font software on unless you are subject to derogatory conditions as set out in the applicable licensing terms and conditions (e.g. Trial License, Student License, Display License, Conditions for small and medium-sized companies).
It is not allowed to use D-E-A-L products, services, fonts, or font software, licensed under a Desktop/Print license, to be used to create digital documents, objects, merchandise, signage, and similar things, or to be used for web purposes. You cannot use the products, services, fonts, or font software, partially or entirely, for the design of a logo, a word mark, or a company symbol. If that is the intended use, please, contact us in order to define a quote corresponding to your demand: hi@adve.tf.
Intellectual Property Right
The use cases of the licensed fonts and software are restricted to those use cases and categories of uses that you have selected on our webshop/platform and conditions and terms of use stipulated in this EULA and in any applicable derogatory agreement (e.g. Student License, Trial License, Display License, conditions to licensing for small and medium-sized companies, etc.).
If applicable, we provide you with a declination to use the font on the web. You can use the fonts on one web domain per license with the @font-face CSS method. There’s currently no limit to the amount of web traffic, but if you want to use the fonts on another domain you’ll have to buy another separate web license. For the integration of the font, you can follow the instructions encoded in the CSS file provided. You can only use the files that we provided you with (which are intended to cover all modern uses). You cannot use or convert these files to be used for print purposes.
Illustration:
You license a font for a one-person project. A few years later you use the same license, but for a client a significantly larger visibility (e.g. thousands of followers on a social media account). In this case Adve has the right to adjust the price to that of a larger company.
Article 7 EULA on auditing and access to any and all relevant information for establishing these rights similarly applies.
Restrictions
Embedding: embedding the Font Software is only allowed in a secure manner which does not allow an End User to access the Font Software outside of the Application. If the Font Software contains information on embedding that indicates that the Font Software can only be used for certain purposes, you are not allowed to change this information in the Font Software. Alterations to the Font Software: you may not alter the fonts or the Font Software for the purpose of adding any functionality that such Font Software did not have when delivered to you by Adve.
Different fonts are being made available in different “cuts” (bold/italic/thin/family pack etc.). The licensee is not allowed to alter or edit the cuts of the licensed font or font software, or to create new (families of) cuts.
Transferring the Font Software: transferring the fonts that you license from Adve to persons, organizations, or devices that fall outside of the scope of the Licensing Agreement is not allowed. This includes (sub-) renting, leasing, licensing or otherwise distributing (copies of) the fonts.
If your rights as a licensee are transferred to another person or legal entity either contractually or automatically, the transferee is automatically bound by all the terms and conditions of the relevant agreements into force between the parties.
Illustration: you are the founder of design company X and you’re licensing our fonts. Brand company Y buys your company. Because Brand Company Y takes the place of Design Company X in existing legal ties, Brand Company Y becomes the bearer of the responsibilities of the licenses and the corresponding Agreement(s).
Server use: you may install the font or font software on a single file server for use on a local area network (“LAN”) within your business or household. The amount of people that have access to the font or font software this way cannot exceed the number of people used to calculate the company size for billing purposes.
You cannot use the product, services, fonts, or font software for any communication that promotes violence, discrimination, extreme right-wing content or that incites to violence—at the full discretion of Adve.
Liability
You agree that Adve cannot be held liable for any costs incurred, damages, or breaches of intellectual property rights, caused by any act, lack of act, or omission on the part of Adve, its members or representatives, or any use of licensed products, typefaces, designs, fonts, font software or anything else by Adve, their clients or contractors.
In case applicable legislation bypasses the aforementioned negation of liability, you acknowledge and agree that Adve excludes any liability for amounts of money larger than the amount of money for which an order had been placed at, or licenses acquired from, Adve, its members, clients, agents or mediating persons, services of platforms.
Adve, their members, collaborators and representatives reserve the right to be held harmless by any damages or liabilities that are caused by the use of products, goods, typefaces, fonts, designs or services that have been purchased or licensed from them, either by the licensee directly, their (sub)contractors, collaborators, costumers or clients, notwithstanding any law-
fulness of the actions of lack of actions.
Warranty & performance
Adve does not in any way warrant that its licensed products will in all cases substantially perform as outlined in the user documentation in effect at the time of the commencement of this license. Adve will, however, take reasonable and fair efforts to correct substantial malfunctions occurring from the use of its licensed products, without thereby assuming any liability or responsibility.
Adve reserves the right to address malfunctions or incorrect use by granting licenses of new versions, new revisions, or temporary versions of the licensed products, be they typefaces, designs, fonts, or font software—all at the discretion of Adve.
Adve will in no way be held responsible for the performance of products licensed by Adve or its collaborators in the event that a licensee or third party fails to provide proof that it licensed the products from Adve itself or from an authorized source.
Adve provides licensees with TTF and OTF formats of licensed fonts. The following situations do not constitute malfunctions or defects in licensed products:
• Licensee fails to purchase the font format to meet its needs (e.g. PostScript flavored OpenType font will not work in CAD/CAM);
• the Font Software does not work in an isolated application but works in all standard operating systems (current MAC OS or Microsoft OS for desktop computers) and/or software application programs (current Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and similar Creative Suite Applications).
To the greatest extent permitted by law, any implied warranties are effectively excluded. The license includes a right to have fonts and font software updated until one year after the date of purchase of the license. For any updates to the fonts of font software after this date, you can contact us at: support@adve.tf.
Audit
You agree that, in case of a reasonable doubt that your, your client, or your company’s, use of the Font Software isn’t complying with the Agreements, Adve or its authorized representative can request proof of compliance with said agreements or any other applicable law or agreement. When such proof of compliance is requested, sufficient proof of compliance will be provided within thirty (30) days of the request, sufficiently proving beyond a reasonable doubt that any and all Adve or Adve products, fonts and/or Font Software used at the time of the request or prior to it, have been in conformity with all and any applicable laws and (license) agreements.
Adve will be held harmless for any damages or liabilities that follow from any use of its products, fonts, or font software by licensees, their representatives, or their clients.
You agree to hold harmless Adve for any misrepresentation of the applicable category of the size of the company that purchases the license, or for whose use the license is purchased, and the corresponding price of the license. Adve is granted the right to access relevant documents and/or workplaces that can be considered necessary to establish the relevant company size or any other information relevant for establishing its rights arising from these and other agreements.
In case Adve has reasonable doubts about the correctness of the size of the company that was indicated at the time of the purchase of the license, the licensee will provide adequate proof. If a discrepancy is found between the company size indicated at purchase and consequent information about this size, Adve has the right to adjust the price of the license and to bill any remaining costs or charges. Such changes can take immediate effect and can be applied retroactively until the moment of the purchase of the license.
Intellectual Property Rights
You acknowledge and agree that all typefaces, fonts, font software, and/or anything else you license through our platforms, are the intellectual property of Adve.
You acknowledge that all typefaces, designs, fonts, and font software that can be licensed are protected to the fullest extent possible and that any and all trademark, copyright, and industrial design rights are owned by Adve. The licensee agrees that all typefaces and designs are considered to be original creations by Adve and/or its collaborator(s), each containing their own creative, original character which showcases creative labour and which produces an impression of difference to an informed user. You agree to accept the existence of industrial design rights to the licensed typefaces, designs, fonts, or font software, notwithstanding any actual registration or deposit.
You agree that the names and designs of typefaces are trademark protected by Adve and you shall refrain from applying existing, or similar, names and designs in ways detrimental to the interests of Adve The licensee agrees to be bound by trademark protection rules and regulations with regard to names, designs, and/or designations used by Adve, regardless of trademark registration or country of residence.
You agree that any product, service, font or font software provided by Adve or its collaborators showcases creative choices of Adve and potential collaborators and is protected under the relevant provisions of copyright law.
In case of unlawful copies, theft, or derivations of any of the intellectual property rights of Adve or its collaborators, Adve has the right vis-à-vis the licensee to be held harmless for any damages or liabilities.
Reasonable and Fair
As a licensee, you acknowledge and agree that in the case of any future difference of opinion or conflict between you and Adve on affairs not mentioned in applicable EULA’s or licensing contracts, any differences will be resolved following the standards of reasonableness and fairness.
Conflict resolution
Notwithstanding the location of the purchaser of licensee or of the use of the goods, services, fonts, designs, or typefaces that have been purchased or licensed, the interpretation of the EULA, and all relevant agreements and annexes, shall be governed by (the principles and interpretations of) Belgian law, and any and all relevant constituent parts thereof of European Union law.
Any conflict that cannot be remedied or settled between the parties, shall be presented to the French speaking courts of the Justices of the Peace, or the Court of First Instance of Brussels, Belgium.
Licensing for a third party
Adve allows for the purchase of licenses for third parties. In such a scenario, as the purchaser of the font, font software, product or service through the Adve platform for the benefit of a third party, you acknowledge and agree that you remain fully responsible for all obligations arising under this agreement and its annexes.
Adve reserves the right to contact you directly, issue invoices, seek payments, or address any disputes related to the purchase, regardless of the existing of the third party. Your obligations under this contract are not transferable to the
third party, unless expressly agreed to in writing by Adve.
